LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Damage assessment teams were out in Corydon, Indiana Wednesday after almost of foot of water filled parts of downtown Tuesday due to flash flooding.
The Harrison County Highway Department said three bridges and at least four section of roads are "washed out."
This comes after more than eight inches of rain caused flash flooding in Lanesville, Indiana. Officials said Little Indian Creek, which runs from Lanesville through Harrison County into downtown Corydon, contributed to the flooding in Corydon.
Police had closed all entrances in downtown Corydon because of the rising floodwaters. Several downtown businesses, including Alibi Bar and Hey Elmer Print and Design, sustained flood damage.
"We saw a car floating down which was really scary," said Eden Williams, who works in downtown Corydon. "We saw like basketballs and stuff. We actually lost a porta potty too in the water. Just all sorts of things."
An official with Harrison County Emergency Management confirmed there were no injuries. Most of the water had receded as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.
