LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Conservation officers in southern Indiana want deer hunters to know it's still too early to go out in the woods with a gun.
It's still archery season and firearm season doesn't start until Saturday morning. Shotguns and rifles are allowed on Nov. 18.
A man in Harrison County was cited Monday morning for hunting with a gun.
"You have to understand the biologists, they set the seasons," said Jim Schreck, an Indiana conversation officer. "That all depends on the breeding and the seasons are set around the breeding for the population, and also the hunting pressure. So right now in archery season, there's a lot less hunting pressure."
Conservation officers warn tree stand falls are the leading cause of hunting-related injuries. They remind hunters to wear a full-body harness.Â
