LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) āĀ The Louisville Bats and the Louisville Kings are both taking to the field for the first time this season, the Kings for the first time ever.
Downtown businesses like Barrel Bar and Grill and The WhistlePig Vault are preparing.
"It's just another day in the business. You always plan for these things," said Barrel Bar and Grill manager Terrence Strode.
"We are new to Louisville, it's really nice to be able to educate people on what we are and who we are," said WhistlePig bartender Penny Chan.
The Bats have been a Louisville staple since 1982, but the Louisville Kings are debuting in the city and in the United Football League.
"We always love to send people that way it's just another event, another fun thing to do while you're in the city of Louisville," said Strode.
The brand-new team kicks off during an exciting time to live in Louisville joining the long list of spring events like Thunder Over Louisville and the Kentucky Derby.
The Louisville Bats play against the Omaha Storm Chasers in a three-game series this weekend and the Louisville Kings kick off against the Birmingham Stallions Friday night.
