Col. Mark Palmer sworn in as newest CCSC school board member - 7.24.24

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Clarksville Community School Corporation has a new board member.

Wednesday, the district announced former Clarksville Police Chief Col. Mark Palmer as the newest member of the school board. He was sworn in during a special meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Palmer replaces Bill Wilson, who died earlier this year, on the board.

In a news release, the district said "Palmer brings a wealth of experience and deep commitment to the Clarksville community. As a lifelong Clarksville resident with a background in public service, he is poised to contribute valuable insights to our board."

Palmer said he's excited for his next chapter.

"Our family is invested in Clarksville, and we are looking forward to this next adventure," Palmer said in the news release.

In January, the Clarksville Town Council voted to replace Palmer as chief with Captain Nathan Walls. Since then, Palmer has served as the town's first Public Safety director. It is unclear if Palmer will retain that role now that he is a member of the school board.

The district's first day of school for the 2024-25 school year is Monday, Aug. 5.
