LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Registration is open for a free driving skills clinic in Louisville that will be held in April.
Ford Driving Skills for Life clinic will be hosted at L&N Stadium on April 13 and April 14. The program that focuses vehicle handling, hazard recognition, speed and space management, distraction and impairment is for newly licensed drivers.
According to a news release, motor vehicle crashes are the leading causes of death for U.S. teens. The driving skills program pairs newly licensed or permitted drivers with professional driving instructors for hands-on drive training in a safe, closed-course environment.
This year's clinic will feature a Safety in Mobility module, which emphasizes educating young drivers about pedestrian and cyclist safety.
"Ford Fund believes all people should have access to safe, reliable and affordable transportation," Joe Provenzano, Mobility director with Ford Fund, said in a news release. "As one of our safe mobility programs, Ford Driving Skills for Life helps new drivers learn critical skills that benefit them whether they are driving a vehicle or using other mobility modes like cycling, scootering or walking while sharing the road with other drivers."
