LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools students working toward careers in health care received a big donation on Thursday.
Trilogy Health will donate $100,000 over the next four years to HOSA chapters at JCPS schools. HOSA is a student organization for future health care professionals. Officials announced the donation in the Health Education classroom at Marion C. Moore School Thursday morning.Â
Trilogy operates eight adult living facilities across Louisville. Officials said the money will help students get to national competitions and conferences, as well as help with other expenses such as membership dues.
"Oftentimes, there's students at the top of their class who make it to the regional tournament or the national, and they're the top students, but they may not be able to afford that, or raise the funds for that, and we don't want any student to be left behind," said Beth Clingaman, vice president of the Trilogy Health Services Foundation and Community Outreach.
Officials said the donation will also help students see what life may look like after school with a career in the health care industry. Trilogy said it hopes the money is an investment into future employees.
