LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday and a normal schedule Friday as flooding persists in Louisville.

The district said Wednesday evening there has been a "large decrease" in the number of bus stops that are inaccessible due to floodwaters, allowing students to return to class in person.

The two-hour delay will allow pickup to take place during daylight hours, the district said.

Additionally, all JCPS Early Childhood centers will be closed Thursday.

Dismissal times will remain the same Thursday, and the district will operate on a normal schedule Friday.

Because some bus stops remain inaccessible, JCPS is encouraging families to visit this website for a spreadsheet of bus stops that will not be accessible Thursday or Friday.

Students whose bus stop is on the list and cannot get to school Thursday or Friday will have their absence excused, the district said. Parents must notify the school of the absence.

JCPS is also opening its 485-RIDE hotline from 6:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday to help families with any questions. The website of inaccessible bus stops will also be updated, so families are encouraged to keep checking it.

All JCPS athletic and extracurricular activities will be able to resume Thursday.
