LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Board of Education is seeking feedback from educators as it searches for a new education commissioner.

Former Kentucky Commissioner of Education Dr. Jason Glass left the position become associate vice president of teaching and learning at Western Michigan University last September.

The commissioner oversees the Commonwealth's K-12 school system and its 635,000 students, as well as acts as superintendent of the Kentucky School for the Blind, the Kentucky School for the Deaf and 53 area technology centers.

According to a release, the board of education wants thoughtful and candid input from people in Kentucky. Feedback can be submitted through the Kentucky educators and administrators survey or the Kentucky education stakeholder survey, which is intended for use by families, community members and business owners.

The survey takes around five minutes to complete, and all answers are anonymous. The surveys close Feb. 16.
