LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville elementary school held a health fair Tuesday evening to connect students and their families with resources.

Semple Elementary School hosted the event to provide different health resources to families, including medication drop-offs with the sheriff's department, check-ups with nurses and a wellness walk.

The fair also included a giant inflatable colon. Why? Organizers said they're working to end the stigma around colon health.

"It's just one of those fun things, just kind of one of the 'Hey this is fun and it brings attention.' You get to walk through the colon and there's a giant polyps and things you can identify," Stephanie Richardson, school nurse, said. "It's just a fun thing for the kids, because they may not understand but the adults can definitely see and understand."

Organizers said this was the first health fair they've been able to hold since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
