LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials with Bullitt County Public Schools are providing more clarity for families after the district voted to remove the YMCA's before and after school programs.
In a letter sent to families on Friday, Superintendent Jesse Bacon said the new program, Right At Schools, will hold it's first information session on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at a school site in the district's region: Freedom, Pleasant Grove, and Shepherdsville Elementary schools.
Bacon said Right at School will expand daily care from nine school sites to 12, starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.
Officials said the decision has come with extensive research and conversations with representatives from the new program.
Some parents are upset about the change, and claim the district didn't communicate information leading up to the it.
The district said Right at School will be more flexible for families, but the cost is still unclear. Bacon said families will "be able to work with Right at School to create flexible monthly schedules to support their busy lives. You may create customized care schedules to fit your family's needs."
