LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Â A Kentucky congressman is launching a youth advisory council.Â
Rep. Morgan McGarvey (D-3) announced the nonpartisan initiative that will give students the opportunity to advise the Louisville native on policy issues that matter most to them.Â
"One of the things I love doing as a member of Congress is meeting with students. Some of the best questions and best ideas come from speaking with young adults," McGarvey said in a news release. "The Youth Advisory Council will give rising high school seniors living in Louisville the opportunity to advise me on policy, debate ideas, and collaborate on solutions that will make our community and our country stronger."
According to a news release, McGarvey will meet privately with the council several times during the school year. The council is intended to foster civic engagement.
Applications will be accepted from April 1 through May 24. Acceptance letters will be sent in June.
Applicants must live in Kentucky's Third Congressional District, be students entering their senior year and enrolled in school.
