LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Shelby County Schools basketball coach is no longer employed by the district.Â
Chris Gaither, the Collins High School boys basketball coach accused of grooming, was terminated Jan. 15, according to a district spokesperson.
He was suspended twice last year by the district after being accused of grooming former students and persuading them to have sex.Â
Gaither can request a hearing to determine if his termination will be upheld. If it is, he can appeal to the Circuit Court.
In December 2025, several women addressed the Shelby County Board of Education, alleging Shelby County Public Schools has a longstanding pattern of grooming and a failure to protect students.
The district said they are implementing an anonymous reporting system and a third party investigation process to look into allegations of sexual misconduct of staff members.Â
