LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Spalding University selected an interim president who will take the role effective July 1.

Dr. Joanne Mathison Berryman was selected as interim president to succeed Tori Murden McClure. 

"I am excited to collaborate with our team of talented trustees, faculty, staff, and students to ensure Spalding’s mission is embraced," Berryman said in a news release. "Our Spalding community is committed to fully leveraging our collective strengths and expertise to provide a strategic direction to facilitate our new president’s successful onboarding and transitional experience."

After spending 14 years as the university's president, Tori Murden McClure retired in June 2024. She served for 25 years in various roles at the university in Louisville.

Beryyman was a former member of Spalding University's Board of Trustees and past Dean and Provost. She began her career in nursing at Jewish Hospital and later expanded to clinical program development.

She later became the president and CEO of Frazier Rehab Institute. Berryman has served on numerous community boards including the University of Louisville Board of Overseers, Hosparus Health Board of Directors and Rotary of Louisville, among others.
