LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man is facing murder and DUI charges after a crash Friday afternoon in Bardstown, Kentucky, left one man dead and another woman critically injured.
According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened around 4:15 p.m. on Highway 245, Shepherdsville Road, near the Handy Food Mart.
Police said 51-year-old Teudis Hernandez crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head-on.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 79-year-old Edward Hovan, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another female passenger suffered severe injuries and was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition.
Hernandez suffered minor injuries. He is charged with murder, assault and driving while intoxicated, and is currently being held at the Nelson County Jail.
Traffic in the area was reduced to one lane during the investigation, but the roadway has since reopened.
KSP is continuing to investigate the crash.
