LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A popular east Louisville business near the Oldham County line was destroyed in an early morning fire Thursday.
Firefighters were called around 2:33 a.m. to the 5800 block of Haunz Lane, just off Ballardsville Road, where crews found Zeppa's heavily engulfed in flames.
Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS said firefighters arrived to find the one-story commercial building fully involved. Due to the heavy flames, crews battled the fire from outside the building while working to protect nearby structures and vehicles.
The owner said he received a call around 3 a.m. informing him the business was on fire. He said everything inside is considered a total loss.
About 50 firefighters and medical personnel from Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS, Pewee Valley Fire, South Oldham Fire, North Oldham Fire, Ballardsville Fire and Westport Fire responded to the scene. Officials said it took crews about an hour and 15 minutes to get the fire under control, though some firefighters remained at the scene Thursday morning to monitor hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
