LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville Fire Department firefighter was injured while extinguishing a house fire in the Shawnee neighborhood early Thursday morning.

LFD Capt. Donovan Sims said crews responded to reports of smoke coming from a home in the 300 block of South 42nd Street just before 3 a.m.

It took 35 firefighters to bring the fire under control within 17 minutes and no one was found inside the home.

Sims said a firefighter sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene then released from the hospital.

The Louisville Fire Arson Bureau determined the fire was started by Sterno Fuel Cans but wasn't intentional.
