LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — A new free preschool serving low-income families celebrated its opening Friday in Louisville's Riverport Landings community.
Bezos Academy Louisville-Riverport is a four-classroom preschool off Cane Run Road. It's the fourth Bezos Academy location in Louisville.
The school is part of a network of free, Montessori-inspired preschools founded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The preschool serves children ages 3 to 5 and offers programming five days a week.
The new location is inside LDG's Riverport campus, which provides housing for families and seniors.
"What really matters is what happens inside this building and the impact this school will have on the children and the families in this community," said Lizo Swanby, the academy's chief of schools. "Because starting today, this school becomes part of the community."
Bezos Academy operates its preschools at no cost to eligible families.
