Prayer service held for critically injured teen swept away into drain pipe

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Friends of a Trinity High School student hospitalized after being sucked into a drain pipe are raising money for his medical bills.

Davey Albright was swept into the drain during a heavy rain storm on August 31.

The 15-year-old was playing near a drainage ditch behind his home on Foxfire Drive. Neighbors called for help, after he was swept into the drain. He was found in a backyard several yards away.

Neighbors told WDRB they could hear his cries for help coming from the storm drain.

Albright was unconscious and not breathing when he was taken to Norton Children's Hospital. He remains in critical condition.

The teen is a sophomore at Trinity High School, according to the school's Twitter page. Signs and letters of support from neighbors and friends are taped to his front door.

Since the accident, a friend of Albright's launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for his medical bills. As of the time of this writing, the account has raised nearly $18,000.
