LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hosparus Health broke ground on the first and only standalone hospice inpatient care center in the region on Tuesday.

The new facility will feature 21 private patient suites, family gathering areas and outdoor spaces.

The Hospice Care Center will bring inpatient care and grief support to one location. The $20 million project is being funded primarily through philanthropy and community support.

"This is really a easy spot for almost everybody in our community and surrounding communities to access," said David Cook, the president and CEO of Hosparus Health. "It's easy to be able to pull up, park and to walk in and be focused on the care of your loved one, without having to figure out how to I get there, where do I park, how do I get in the building."

Doors should be open for care in early 2027.
