LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Â A historic home in the Highlands is being restored and made into a housing and senior services center.
Woodbourne House was once known as Briney Hall and was among the first one thousand brick homes made in the area.
New Directions Housing Corporation will have eleven housing units for seniors in the restored home.
Lisa Thompson, Chief Operating Officer of New Directions, tells WDRB News, "These kinds of projects enable people to have safe, decent, affordable housing. More than that, we can work as neighborhoods and communities of people who care to provide the services that help them be independent."
In addition, Highlands Community Ministries will relocate its Shaffer Enrichment Center to the home, and Douglass Boulevard Christian Church will still host the Douglas Loop Farmers' Market there on Saturdays.
