After closing for more than six months,Ā the oldest Kroger in the Louisville areaĀ is reopening at 8 a.m.Ā Wednesday.

Ā The store in Holiday Manor closed at the beginning of April to make $16 million worth of renovations.

ā€œIn the 52-year life cycle, the store has expanded five times,ā€ Holiday Manor Kroger store manager Tom Revell said.

Nearly 20,000Ā square feet were added to the building with additions on either side.

ā€œWe've added Starbucks, we added a wine and spirits shop, we expanded our Little Clinic, which is our pharmacy, our meat and seafood, and our deli department,ā€ Revell said.

Like other recentlyĀ renovated Kroger stores, there will be fresh sushi, a Murray's Cheese Shoppe, Boar's Head Meat,Ā a garden center and a Havana Rumba Food Cart, but this is the very first Kroger with a BBQ joint.

ā€œWe have Eli's BBQ joining us. It's an outside company. It's the first time they've been in a Kroger store,ā€ Revell said.

It's also the first store in the area to make Italian brick oven pizza.

ā€œWe will be offering lunch and dinner, and the idea is you can come in and get anything you would normally want to eat at home right here,ā€ Revell said.

As the in-store shopping experience is enhanced, so is the online shopping experience.

The Holiday Manor Kroger is the next store to add Clicklist, a way you can buy groceries online and have them delivered to your car in the parking lot.

To help with all these additions, Kroger is bringing in 140 new employees, and the store is still hiring.

To apply for a job, you can visit the store or click here.

The first 500 customers Wednesday morning will get two free packages of Simple Truth Chicken.

Store hours are 6Ā a.m. untilĀ midnight, sevenĀ days a week. Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday fromĀ 8Ā a.m. toĀ 9Ā p.m., Saturday from 8Ā a.m. toĀ 6Ā p.m. and Sunday from 9Ā a.m. to 6Ā p.m.Ā
