BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WDRB) — For all the Indiana University fans who couldn't make it to Miami, still got a taste of the action Monday night in Bloomington.
It was a packed house at Assembly Hall as the university's official watch party, perhaps the biggest besides watching it live in person at Hard Rock Stadium, kicked off.
Tickets to Hard Rock Stadium were a few thousand dollars, but the ones to this watch party were free. Don’t be fooled, it was competitive to get them as they sold out within hours.
Kickoff was after 7:30 and some fans waited for more than 5 hours out in the freezing cold to get a good seat in Assembly Hall.
"We got here around noon today," one IU fan said. "I think we were the 4th people in line."
Other fans had no problem braving the cold, saying it was worth it.
"Oh yeah, it's just a band of brothers braving it against the cold, fast physical relentless, we’ve been out here 5 hours, we would be out here 6 more if that's what it took," another IU fan said.
For other fans, the championship game was a long, awaited road.
"It's been a rollercoaster of emotion from two wins in 2023 to now an undefeated season, potentially to a national championship, I just want to give all glory to God for this opportunity, and Go Hoosiers,"
IU went on to win 27-21 against Miami.
