JCPS siblings rap against bullying in music video

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A pair of JCPS siblings are trying to make it big on YouTube with a rap song that calls out school bullies.

Brother and sister Billie "Fussy" and Rashid "Scoddie" Wright are third and fourth graders at Bloom Elementary School. Their music video for the song "Ugga Bugga" has thousands of views on YouTube and is growing by the day.

"If you don't know what to say, just say 'ugga bugga' and be on your way," Billie said.

"We just kept saying it when we was little, and our dad came up with a song for it," Rashid added.

It's a fun video, but its message means more.

"I love who I am, and I'll say it again," Rashid rapped. "I'll never be mean just to fit in."

The song not only tackles topics like school bullies and living by the Golden Rule, but it also talks about the importance of going to school, a lesson the pair's parents want to drive home.

"Anti-bullying is a pretty important topic right now," said dad and songwriter William Wright. "But it's also the idea that is more important: treating others with respect and expecting others to respect you.

"We're both college-educated, and we want (the kids) to understand how important it is and how much a difference it can make to be educated and to treat others with respect."

It's also given the siblings a confidence boost.

"At first, I was very nervous," Billie said. "But now, I'm, like, very happy with myself," said Billie.

"And I was shy at the beginning of the video, and then I got rid of it," Rashid added.

By being themselves, they want to inspire other kids, and even adults, to be kind to each other.
