LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Great Balloon Glow Friday night is now cancelled, Kentucky Derby Festival officials confirmed.
KDF spokesperson Aimee Boyd said the Fest-a-Ville event at Waterfront Park will not go on due heavy rain moving through the area.
Officials announced earlier Friday they were originally planning to shift to a Candlestick Glow to accommodate the weather. Pilots would have fired their burners up as a replacement for the balloons.
The release said weather is not expected to be an issue for the Great Balloon Race Saturday, which set to launch at 7 a.m. from Bowman Field Airport.
