LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- On Wednesday, students at the Jefferson Community and Technical College made Thanksgiving a little tastier for people in need.
The students in the JCTC culinary arts program began preparing meals. The food, which includes 50 turkeys and all the trimmings, will go to more than 1,000 people at The Healing Place.
The Healing Place provides the ingredients, while the students take care of the mixing, basting and roasting. Chef instructors say the partnership is great, not just for those who will eat the meals, but for the students as well.
"It gives them good exposure to cooking in quantity," said Peter Thompson, chef instructor. "Also, it's just a good thing to do. The Healing Place can always use help and we're always looking for something to do."
The Healing Place is a center for people recovering from addiction.
