LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Jeffersonville Police Department has two new four-legged officers.

Thursday, the department introduced the two new furry officers, Dunko and Lobo, on its Facebook page.

K-9 Dunko is a 14-month-old Belgian Malinois and is partnered with Sgt. Denver Leverett. Dunko will be trained in patrol tactics like tracking, apprehension and narcotics detection.

Also joining the team is K-9 Lobo. Lobo is a 21-month-old Dutch Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix and will be partnered with Officer Jonathan Happel. Lobo will also be trained in patrol tactics as well as firearms detection.

Both dogs and their police counterparts have been training for the past two months. Once they complete their certifications, the K-9s will hit the pavement.
