Kentucky Derby Festival opens ambassador applications for 2025 miniMarathon, Marathon

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Derby Festival is looking for race ambassadors for next year's miniMarathon and marathon.

The 2025 GE Appliances miniMarathon and Marathon will be Saturday, April 26. Race officials are accepting race ambassador applications through Aug. 14.

According to a news release, race ambassadors are runners and walkers who are part of a proactive group that pushes a healthy lifestyle message. The group plays a key role in keeping runners and walkers informed and motivated ahead of the race.

"For more than a decade, our Race Ambassador Team has been essential in the development and continued growth of the GE Appliances miniMarathon and Marathon," Chris Martini, Kentucky Derby Festival Race Director, said in a news release. "Our Ambassadors recruit and inspire participants each Spring to cross the Finish Line for Kentucky’s largest day of road racing. We’re excited to see who will be part of our next class of Ambassadors."

KDF said race ambassadors are selected through an application process where they highlight their passion for running and involvement in the running community.
