LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Although many people decided to stay home during the winter storm that left about 10 inches of snow in Kentuckiana, state troopers said they stayed busy helping drivers.

Kentucky State Police said dispatchers took 1,450 calls on Sunday. That's a 70% increase in calls compared to a normal Sunday.

Troopers helped nearly 300 stranded drivers on Kentucky roads.

Indiana State Police said its Sellersburg post received 200 calls for service, a "drastic increase" compared to a normal day. Nearly all of those were to help drivers.

Of those calls, 136 were to assist drivers, 46 were slide-offs and nearly 70 calls were for crashes.
