LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There's something nostalgic about turning a beater bike into a moving motorcycle, and that's exactly what Kentucky Kickdown is all about.
"It's the smell, it's the way they run, and they just have a lot more character than modern day stuff," said Scott Halbleib, a Kentucky Kickdown organizer.
Many of these riders could have bought a $20,000 motorcycle, but they say it's just not as fun. The bike means more when you build it.
"That gives you a connection to it that you don't have with a lot of newer machinery because you don't necessarily work on newer bikes and cars," said James Kemp, owner of a vintage motorcycle.
More than one-hundred vintage motorcycles are rolling into town for the event.
Kentucky Kickdown starts at noon and runs until 10pm at The Monkey Wrench and Barret Bar. Admission is $5.
