LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- About 10 properties were without running water after a 16-inch water main break Sunday morning in south Louisville.

According to the Louisville Water Company, the main break occurred near the intersection of 3rd and W. Kenton streets around 8:30 a.m. in the Wilder Park neighborhood.

Vehicles in the roadway were submerged by the water. Louisville Water said drainage issues in the area caused the major flooding.

11 customers are without water services, including a few homes, a business and small apartment complex, according to Louisville Water.

Jacqueline Dixon woke up with about three feet of water in front of her home.

"I could hear it pouring in my basement, the next thing I know, the basement is flooded up to the top of the steps so everything I have in the basement is a loss," Dixon said.

Adam Fazliji said the water ruined his stove, furniture and more. The water also covered half of his car.

"I opened the window and I say what is this, I can't believe it and I call my boss and say I can't come to work and he says why and I say there's a lot of water man," Fazliji said.

Southeast Christian Church's South Louisville campus was also damaged by the water. Services were canceled and it will be three to five days before crews can get the basketball gym open.

"Today is just stabilizing, getting water extracted and then getting equipment set today and then we'll be back in the morning," said Trevor Bunker with First Light Restoration. "Check the moisture reading, probably set more equipment to get all that water and moisture out."

Crews will be on-site working on the problem throughout the evening. Louisville Water hopes to restore water service by midnight.

Louisville Water doesn't know what caused the pipe to break.

Crews are expected to be in the area Monday as well to finish the repair and fix the roadway.
