LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- September is Hispanic Heritage month, and the world of Latin music converged on Fourth Street Live! on Saturday.
The 6th Latin Music Awards Kentucky took place in downtown Louisville. It featured more than 60 Latin Artists nominated in 16 categories.
All of the nominees live in Kentucky but represent various Latin American countries including Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico and more.
"It is important just to let us know that we are here. We are being scene not just for the Latin community but around in the Kentucky area," said nominee Henry Miles.
Categories for the awards included best Latin artist, salsa band, jazz artist, music video and DJ. The event also included a salsa concert, an awards ceremony and an after party.
Twelve partial scholarships were also presented to Hispanic students currently enrolled or planning to enroll at the University of Louisville School of Music, Bellarmine and Jefferson Community College.
