LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One of Louisville's oldest public housing units could be getting a makeover.
Louisville Metro Housing Authority recently submitted a request for proposals for Parkway Place, which is also known as Park Hill. The complex is located in the Algonquin neighborhood.
"What LMHA has recognized in listening to residents and listening to the community that we need to make some significant investments and improvements here at Park Hill," said Elizabeth Strojan, executive director of LMHA.
Park Hill includes more than 600 family units. It is also the only remaining large, barracks-style public housing development in Louisville. Neighbors are excited about the proposal for redevelopment.
"I think it's time to remove it and restore it," said Asia Cotton, president of the Resident Council Board. "I believe that we continue to build on the current foundation that is going to continue to fall through."
LMHA is specifically looking for firms with a track record of successful community engagement and experience in leading large-scale neighborhood planning projects.
