LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Local county officials and law enforcement in Louisville and southern Indiana will be conducting active threat training.
Beginning Tuesday, June 17, Jefferson County judges, their staff and employees with the Office of Circuit Court Clerk will take part in training at the judicial center and Hall of Justice, learning how civilians can response to active shooter threats in government buildings. The training is expected to end Wednesday.
The training is provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts Division of Court Security. Participates will use virtual firearms simulators and attend classroom training on the Avoid, Deny and Defend strategy.
“We want to be proactive in our efforts to equip staff and those who frequent our buildings with proper responses to violence,” AOC Division of Court Security manager Darren Allen said in a release. “There’s always the possibility of violence in public buildings. We want to minimize risk of injury and death, avoiding tragedy.”
Across the river, Clarksville Police will be conducting training exercises at Clarksville High School on Tuesday and Wednesday.
