LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Some Louisville kids got a free haircut with a side of life advice Tuesday night.

Local barber J. Alexander and his team set up shop at the Newburg Public Library. Their customers not only got a fresh cut but advice on staying out of trouble and how to navigate challenging situations.

It was all part of his newly launched initiative called "Thoughts Out Loud."

"You can do whatever you want to do, you can be whoever you want to be and to put positive vibes into our community," J. Alexander said.

The barbers are trained in trauma counseling.

They offer free haircuts to students ages 6 to 17 at the Newburg Library on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. January 16 through February 20.  For an appointment, call 502-479-6160.
