LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local fire department took advantage of the cold weather this week to do ice rescue training.
Members of the Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Protection District and Anchorage-Middletown Station 35 trained together at Taylorsville Lake during 21-degree temperatures Wednesday morning.
Photos show a firefighter acting like someone who had fallen through the ice, while others worked to rescue him using a rope system and an inflatable recue sled.
The fire departments said the public should always stay off of frozen waterways. If you see a person or a pet fall into frozen water, call 911.
