LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Millions of people are expected to travel this Memorial Day weekend, and according to AAA, most will be driving.
AAA said that could be because the national gas average is $3.17, down 40 cents from this time last year.
The company also said the number of people taking cruises is going up.
But for those flying, AAA said people should expect long line at airports because of the increased number of travelers and the recent enforcement of REAL ID.
Passengers who don't have a REAL ID will have to do additional screening.
"You could be denied boarding, but TSA has done a great job of helping people get through and make sure they get to their destination," said Natalie Chaudoin, a spokesperson for the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.
Normally, airports recommend passengers arrive two hours early. But if your ID doesn't meet the requirements, you should be there three hours early.
To date, TSA reports 92% of people who have traveled the the Louisville airport had proper identification.
