LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's animal shelter has taken in more than 70 dogs since Monday. But the overcrowding means if they're not adopted soon, they could be put to sleep.
Every day, medium and large dogs are at risk of being euthanized at Louisville Metro Animal Services. To combat overcrowding, the shelter offers free adoptions to help empty the kennels.
"We open at noon, and the first thing we have is a lobby full of pets waiting to come into our shelter," said Stephanie Jackson with LMAS. "It's just unfathomable. Where all these pets are coming from? I just don't know.
The adoption process hasn't changed, but the fees are waived through July 31. You can visit the LMAS Care Complex located on Newburg Road to meet the adoptable dogs.
