LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Animal Services is encouraging people to adopt pets this month.
LMAS has more than 800 pets in its care. LMAS said many dogs will not make it out of the shelter this week without immediate intervention.
More than 100 pets are available onsite to be fostered or adopted.
LMAS said adoption fees have been waived for cats over six months old and dogs that weigh more than 40 pounds. People can also foster pets in need.
LMAS is also looking for volunteers to take dogs on walks or play with them for a bit.
