LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville arson investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire at a vacant home in the Portland neighborhood early Friday morning.

The first reports of the fire came in around 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of North 26th Street, according to a news release from the Louisville Fire Department. When crews arrived at that location, they found the two-story residence engulfed in flames, with heavy fire on the second floor.

Firefighters conducted a search of the house as they fought the flames from the inside but then had to pull back and take a defensive stance because the flames were so intense.

Crews reentered the home and conducted another search when it was safe to do so and found no one inside.

It took approximately 30 minutes for 30 firefighters to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported.
