LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville attorney will once again offer free Uber vouchers for rides over Labor Day weekend in an effort to help keep city roads safe and prevent accidents.
Darryl "The Hammer" Isaacs, owner of Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers, will provided the vouchers through his app, the Hammer Hub, so those celebrating the holiday can get home safely.
"I love holidays and celebrating, so I don't want to take that fun away from anyone," Isaacs said in a news release Monday. "But in my business, you see so many people hurt by preventable accidents, and especially during summer holidays. I wanted to do something about it."
Those who download the app on Apple or Android devices can use it to get the free vouchers, which are limited, from Saturday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 1.
To use a voucher, download the Hammer Hub app to claim the voucher. You'll then open the Uber app, tap "wallet," and scroll down to select "vouchers." The vouchers are worth $20, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You have to be signed into the Uber app to claim the voucher. If a ride is more than $20, the extra cost will be charged to the payment method an Uber user has saved on their account.
Isaacs created the Hammer Hub app to provide the free rideshare vouchers, while supplies last, during peak holiday drive times to make sure residents make it home safely, according to the Hammer Hub webpage.
The vouchers will be available again for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve.
Isaacs said his goal is to help prevent others from being seriously injured in an accident, drawing from his personal experience recovering from a 2015 crash while he was riding his bike.
