LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Next week the country will observe the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the celebration started Saturday.
The 23rd MLK week of service is underway until the Jan. 25. Saturday morning a breakfast was held at King Solomon Baptist Church in the California neighborhood.
Reverend Dr. Charles Elliott Jr. spoke during the breakfast and also prayed for the city. He's been the church's pastor for 63 years and even marched with Dr. King.
"When you got unit, where all of us are sharing together to inform the public the power of unity, that makes me feel good," Elliott said.
Sunday, the church will hold a MLK rally and motorcade.
