LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kroger is giving bourbon lovers a reason to raise a glass for a good cause.
The retailer's Ultimate Bourbon Auction is back for its fifth year, offering rare bottles and exclusive bourbon experiences to benefit Dare to Care Food Bank.
Kroger will celebrate the launch with an event from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at its Prospect Wine & Spirits Shoppe. Guests can sample premium bourbons, meet local distillers and try Maker’s Mark's signature wax dipping.
All proceeds will help Dare to Care feed families across Kentucky and southern Indiana. Last year, Kroger rescued more than 3.5 million pounds of food for local pantries.
"The Ultimate Bourbon Auction gives bidders the chance to win extraordinary bottles while making a real difference," Josh Harpole, president of Kroger’s Louisville Division, said in a news release.
