LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville couple was honored Thursday for helping shape Waterfront Park into what it is today.
A ceremony was held in honor of Patty and the late Jim Williamson. It also served as a celebration for the new Patty and Jim Williamson Endowment Fund.
Jim Williamson, who played a pivotal role in making the park possible, died in February.
The endowment fund is made possible through the support of friends and family, and will help support the park in the future.
"They saw what other people couldn't see yet, and they fought for it," Justin Williamson, Patty and Jim Williamson's son, said during the ceremony. "They made a lot of enemies creating this park, and this is the result. So sometimes leadership is going to ruffle feathers, but this team did it the right way and they got it done and it's still building. We just want to support that in any way we can."
A new plaque will be installed in the Swing Garden at the park in their honor.Â
