LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville firefighter was injured while battling a fire in the Hallmark neighborhood Saturday night.

Louisville Fire responded to a house fire around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of North 19th Street, near Columbia Street, said Captain Donovan Sims said in a news release.

When firefighters arrived, they found a fire coming from the second floor of the vacant two-story home. Crews deployed handlines, and it took 25 firefighters to get the fire under control, which was contained to the second floor, Sims said.

No one was in the house. One firefighter fell and suffered a non-life threatening injury, and was taken to the hospital, Sims said.

Louisville Metro Arson is investigating the cause of the fire. The Louisville Fire Department asks residents to report suspicious activity around vacant properties, and have fire safety awareness in their neighborhoods.
