Louisville group collecting supplies for Hurricane Helene help 10-2-24

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group of people from Louisville are about to head to North Carolina to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene, and you can help.

The group is gathering donations. Immediate needs include: Water and sports drinks, non-perishable foods, baby supplies, sanitizer/wipes, trash bags, rubber gloves, work gloves, paper towels, flashlights, batteries and toiletries.

Other items being accepted include sports drinks powder packs/hydration powder packs (electrolytes), baby wipes, diapers for children and adults, baby formula, bug spray, sunscreen, plastic utensils, cleaning supplies, plastic sheets/tarps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, sanitation items, pet food and hand sanitizer.

Donations will be accepted through Wednesday evening at the Roll Call Foundation, located at 283 Crestwood Road in the Hillview City Office Building.

Organizers said they already have seven or eight truckloads of supplies that will head to Boone, North Carolina, Thursday morning.

"The fact that we put this out via social media 24 hours ago, and this entire room is filled with donations. We got truckloads of stuff out there," organizer Sean Christopher said. "Louisville, we love you guys and we appreciate you and let's continue to step up to the plate and do something."

Christopher posted a video on Facebook Monday asking for volunteers to organize a search and rescue team. The group, largely former military members, is organizing to help those tapped in their homes.

Those wanting to help can email Christopher at seanchristophercoaching@gmail.com, or connect with the Louisville Crisis Response Team he has organized via their Facebook group by clicking here.
