LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Students on a Louisville high school girls basketball team got a chance to play a different version of the game.
The Sacred Heart basketball team took on Louisville Lightning during a game of wheelchair basketball.
The Louisville Lightning is part of the JCPS adaptive sports program, which sponsors multiple sports.
The Lightning have been together for about a year-and-a half. They will soon travel to tournaments in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Birmingham.
"A game like this is great for us to have accessibility and awareness, having access to people in the community that the wheelchair basketball world might not have access to, and bringing awareness to the adaptive sports," Kristin Hamrick, co-director Louisville Lightning, said.
The Louisville Lightning had their way with the four-time defending state champions, giving the Sacred Heart Valkyries a great appreciation for how difficult the game can be.
