LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A southern Indiana barbecue restaurant will close next week after its landlord wouldn't renew their lease.

In a post on Facebook, Rubbin' Butts in Sellersburg said their "pleas to continue the lease were not accepted."

"We'd like to express our sincere apologies for this sudden and disappointing news," the post continued. "More importantly, we want to thank each of you for your incredible support."

The restaurant said "the current economic climate" makes it impossible for them to relocate and open at a different location.

"With today's high inflation rates and the staggering cost of commercial kitchen equipment, taking on a new buildout is simply not in our family's cards right now," the restaurant said in the post.

Rubbin' Butts said it would be under normal operating hours until its last day on Saturday, June 7.

"Serving this community has been the privilege of a lifetime," the restaurant said.
