LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky hospitals are getting millions of dollars in reimbursement funds for expenses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Andy Beshear announced Friday more than $105 million in FEMA reimbursements for COVID-19 response will be given to six Kentucky hospitals, including two in Louisville.
UofL Health is being reimbursed more than $13 million, and Baptist Health will get more than $17 million.
The funding covers pandemic expenses like personal protective equipment (PPE), staffing, testing and patient care from 2020 through 2023.
Beshear said the money comes at a critical time as hospitals face financial pressure from potential federal Medicaid cuts.
"This $105 million will make a difference for these hospitals and the Kentucky families who depend on them, which is why today’s news is so great," Beshear said in a release.
Leaders at UofL Health said the reimbursement helps close the chapter on the pandemic and strengthens healthcare services.
