LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man was sentenced to more time in prison for a previous conviction.

Brandon Keeling, 39, will serve 17 1/2 years in prison not just for meth and fentanyl trafficking, but because he's a convicted felon who had a gun.

Thursday, Keeling was found guilty in federal court on drug charges and for being a convicted felon with a gun.

Back in 2016, police arrested Keeling after a chase that ended with a shootout and damage to police cars so severe they couldn't be driven away. He was convicted in 2018 on charges from trafficking cocaine, to evading police.

The Department of Justice said that conviction from 2018 is the reason he wasn't allowed to have a gun.
