LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville has a date for its return trip to one of college basketball's most iconic venues.
The Cardinals will travel to Lawrence, Kansas, to face Kansas in a preseason exhibition game on Oct. 21 at Phog Allen Fieldhouse. Game time has not yet been announced.
The matchup is the second half of a home-and-home exhibition agreement between the two programs.
Kansas defeated Louisville 90-82 in last year's exhibition at the KFC Yum! Center. The Jayhawks built an 18-point lead early in the second half before the Cardinals rallied to make the final margin more respectable.
Kansas guard Darryn Peterson led the Jayhawks with 26 points, scoring all but two before halftime. Louisville guard Ryan Conwell matched him with 26 points for the Cardinals.
The game also marks a return to Lawrence for Louisville center Flory Bidunga, who transferred to the Cardinals after earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors at Kansas. Bidunga had 14 points and six rebounds against Louisville in last year's exhibition while helping limit Cardinals center Sananda Fru to one point on 1-of-1 shooting in 18 minutes.
Although the programs have met several times over the years, Louisville hasn't played at Allen Fieldhouse since Jan. 11, 1992, when the Cardinals got 20 points from Dwayne Morton and earned an 85-78 upset that snapped a 24-game home winning streak for the Jayhawks.
Louisville is 2-2 all-time in regular-season games played in Lawrence.
